The Cairnhill Circle

Nobody
builds one
alone.

A community for everyone who has learned at Cairnhill, and a standing invitation back.

Somewhere to bring a question, somewhere to meet the trade, and people who will still know your name in five years. Everyone who studies here belongs in it.

In plain terms

So what is the Cairnhill Circle?

It is the community that every Cairnhill student joins, and stays part of long after the course is finished.

Three things at once, and none of them complicated.

A community

People who sat in the same room and know your trade. You can describe your week to them without explaining the first half of it.

An alumni network

Everyone who studies here becomes part of it, from the first week onwards, and stays part of it long after the course is behind them.

A place to keep learning

Guest sessions, small mentoring circles and written briefings that carry on once the certificate has been handed over.

There is nothing to apply for and nobody is vetted. You become part of the Circle by studying here, and the door stays open for as long as you want to walk back through it. The Circle is young, so some of what follows is running today and some is being introduced as the community grows.

What membership carries

Six pillars.
One circle.

Each one is a standing commitment, not a brochure line. Together they are what keeps a Cairnhill member in good company.

A standing invitation

The Circle does not close when the programme does. The same room, the same people, and a door that stays open for as long as you want to use it.

Pillar 01

Keep
learning

Whenever Cairnhill opens something new, members hear first and are welcome back through the door.

Pillar 02

The room

Somewhere to put the question you cannot ask your own staff, answered by people who met the same wall recently.

Pillar 03

The trade,
in person

Guest sessions with practitioners who bring one real decision and the thinking behind it. Members come as guests of the house.

Pillar 04

People in
your corner

Small circles with the people who taught you. Eighteen seats a cohort means they still know your name years later.

Pillar 05

Stay in
the know

Sector briefings written at our own desks, every figure sourced and dated, and the room reads them first.

Pillar 06

Be
found

A directory that lets members find each other by trade and by market, and a wider circle of operators beyond them.

Who is in it

A round table has no head.

Cairnhill sets it and keeps it laid, but nobody sits above anybody else once the chairs are pulled in. Eight places, and one of them is being held for you.

How it unfolds

Five steps in.
Then it does not stop.

Step 01

You arrive

Whatever you did before, and whatever brought you here. A room of eighteen, and a teaching team who will know your name by the second week.

Step 02

You study

The programme you came for, however long it runs. Taught in a room small enough that nobody hides at the back.

Step 03

You do the work

Assessments, projects, and whatever else your programme asks of you. The pieces you finish are yours to keep and yours to show.

Step 04

You complete

The award is issued and the photographs are taken. Usually this is where a school and a student say goodbye.

Step 05

The Circle opens

Six pillars and no end date. Come back for what we run next, put a question to the room, take a seat at a session, be found.

Cairnhill hosts the room. What grows inside it belongs to the people who show up.
Cairnhill Institute

The Cairnhill Circle is a membership community and is not part of the accredited award. Membership carries no separate fee. Cairnhill makes no introduction to any employer, investor, financier or supplier, takes no commission or referral fee on any dealing between members, and does not vet or endorse any member's business. You receive the standard PEI-Student Contract and the full fee schedule before any payment is accepted, and fees are collected under the Fee Protection Scheme.

The community

There is a seat here for the curious

For the ones with a plan, and the ones still working out what the plan is. For the person who has opened three places and the person who has not opened one yet. Everybody arrives somewhere different, and the table is long.

You are not the first to try this

Whatever you are about to attempt, someone in this trade has already attempted it, survived it, and can tell you where it hurt.

Everybody here has had that week

The one where nothing worked and the phone stayed quiet. The only real difference is whether there was somebody to call.

No question is too small

The costly mistakes are usually the ones nobody thought to mention. A half-formed question asked early is worth more than a tidy one asked late.

One day the answer will be yours

A cohort behind you will ask the exact question you once had. Answering it is the moment you stop being the new one.

A circle only turns because people keep showing up to turn it. We would like you to be one of them.

How the room works

Four things, and that is all we ask.

They keep the room worth coming back to, and they apply to guests and to the institute just as much as to members.

01

Come with a question

The best sessions start with something that did not go to plan. Nobody is expected to arrive with the answers.

02

What is shared here, stays here

Most members work for somebody, so please hold back anything you are contractually or professionally bound to keep confidential, such as an employer's pricing, contracts, supplier terms or client data. Your own judgement is the valuable part anyway.

03

This is not a sales floor

Members are here as peers rather than prospects. Cairnhill takes no commission or referral fee on anything that happens between members, and does not vet or endorse any member's business.

04

Pass it on when you can

You will take more than you give in the first year, and that is fine. Later on, somebody will ask you the thing you once asked. That exchange is the whole point.

Get in touch

Come and say hello.

Thinking about studying here, working in the trade already, or happy to come and talk for an hour. All three reach the same desk, and a person writes back.

This is not an application and commits you to nothing. If you are asking about the Advanced Diploma, you will be sent the course sheet, the fee schedule and the standard PEI-Student Contract before payment is discussed.
